JOZANI FOREST

Jozani Forest is part of Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park and one of the few remaining intact rainforests in East Africa. Walking the park’s paths, you can admire a diverse range of plant and animal species. Among the tropical trees—huge baobabs, ficus trees, and mangroves—hides the area’s greatest attraction: red colobus monkeys. This species is found exclusively in Zanzibar and you won’t find them anywhere else in the world!

SALAAM CAVE

Salaam Cave is a tourist attraction focused on an enclosed cave (or cave-pool) environment where sea turtles are housed, interacted with, fed, and visitors can swim with them.

Swimming in the cave waters with turtles.

Feeding the turtles (often seaweed is given).

Taking photos, observing the environment.

Learning (to some degree) about turtle conservation or at least the biology of the turtles.

It is often described as a “hidden gem” — offering a break from beaches, involving nature and wildlife.

MTENDE BEACH

Mtende Beach is a stunning and secluded beach located on the southern coast of Unguja Island, which is the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago (Tanzania). It lies within Mtende Village, about 1.5 to 2 hours’ drive from Stone Town.

Unlike the famous beaches of Nungwi or Paje, Mtende remains relatively untouched — it’s peaceful, scenic, and very natural.
